EEOC Chair Jacqueline Berrien To Address Excel Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hold its 13th annual EXCEL (Examining Conflicts in Employment Law) conference from July 12 to 15 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Florida. EXCEL is the premier national federal sector law conference and the most comprehensive of its kind examining contemporary equal employment opportunity issues and other workplace topics. The multi-day interactive and educational program, themed “Passion for Equality”, features eight plenary sessions and more than 50 workshops.

Participants -- ranging from EEO managers, supervisors and specialists, attorneys, human resource professionals and union officials -- will receive information on recent developments in employment law and changes in agency procedures.

EEOC Chair Jacqueline A. Berrien will deliver opening remarks on Monday, July 12, at 8:45 a.m. Other highlights include presentations by Christine Griffin, Deputy Director of the Office of Personnel Management; Carol Waller Pope, Chair of the Federal Labor Relations Authority, and Susan T. Grundmann, Chair of the Merit Systems Protections Board.

EXCEL will offer several workshop tracks on mediation, hearings preparation, and analyzing barriers to full inclusion in the federal workforce. Additionally, Jocelyn Samuels, Senior Counsel, Office of the Assistant Attorney General, U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division; and Mark G. Pearce, Board Member, National Labor Relations Board, will speak.
