EEOC Seeks Public Comment On Plan To Review Its Significant Regulations

WASHINGTON--The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is inviting the public to comment on its preliminary plan for review of significant regulations under Executive Order (EO) 13563, “Improving Regulation and Regulatory Review.” The Executive Order can be found at 76 Fed. Reg. 3821 (Jan. 21, 2011).

Executive Order 13563 directs each federal agency to develop a preliminary plan for reviewing periodically its significant regulations to determine whether they should be modified, streamlined, expanded, or repealed. The goal is to make the agency's regulatory program more effective in achieving its regulatory objectives and less burdensome to the public.

In March 2011, the EEOC solicited public comment to assist in drafting its preliminary plan. After considering all of the comments received, the EEOC has now submitted its preliminary plan to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

OMB’s guidance requires the EEOC to solicit public comment for 30 days on the preliminary plan. The EEOC is interested in public input on the factors, priorities, and process for selecting regulations for review, and input on the specific regulations identified for review over the next two years.
