EEOC Names Shirley Richardson as New Head of Its Dallas District

WASHINGTON - Shirley Richardson, who recently served as the deputy director of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) Memphis District, was named director of the agency's Dallas District Office, EEOC Chair Jenny R. Yang announced today.

"I am very pleased to welcome Shirley Richardson as the new director for the Dallas District Office," Yang said. "During her career, Shirley has demonstrated an outstanding record of leadership and professional excellence. I look forward to working with her and the Dallas District Office team as she assumes her new role."

Richardson joined EEOC in 1984 in its Louisville office. She worked her way up through the agency, serving in Indianapolis and Memphis and earning promotions to enforcement supervisor, enforcement manager and deputy district director positions. Prior to joining EEOC, Richardson was an EEO manager with the Tennessee Valley Authority. She earned a bachelor's degree from Le Moyne Owen College and a J.D. from Howard University School of Law.

"I am looking forward to continuing the good work our Dallas District is known for," said Richardson. "We will work hard to carry out EEOC's mission of eradicating employment discrimination, by enforcing the law and working directly with our stakeholders."

EEOC enforces federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. More information can be found at www.eeoc.gov.
