EEOC Announces John Lowrie as New Director for its Denver Field Office

DENVER -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced the selection of John C. Lowrie as the new director of its Denver Field Office.  The Denver Field Office is part of the EEOC's Phoenix District Office, which covers the states of Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and sections of New Mexico.

"I am very pleased we were able to hire someone of John's quality, talents and unique experience as Denver Field Office director," said Rayford O. Irvin, director of the EEOC's Phoenix District.  "He is an outstanding manager and leader, and I know he and his staff will continue to serve the states of Colorado and Wyoming well."

Lowrie joins the office after serving with the U.S. Department of State in Afghanistan.  Prior to his service in Afghanistan, Lowrie worked as a labor and employment attorney in Denver for ten years. He has deep ties to the Colorado community.  From 2006 to 2009, Lowrie served as the Colorado chairman for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.  He also previously served as a board member to the Anchor Center for Blind Children and Colorado Youth at Risk.  John is a graduate of Leadership Denver and the Colorado Institute of Leadership and Training.

"It is an incredible honor to be joining the EEOC on the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964," Lowrie said.  "I am excited to be part of the team carrying forward the legacy of the civil rights movement by enforcing federal laws against discrimination in employment."

EEOC is responsible for enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination.  The EEOC Denver Field Office is located at 303 E. 17th Avenue, Suite 410, Denver, CO 80203.  For assistance, call the EEOC at 1-800-669-4000 or 1-800-669-6820 TTY.
