Rudy L. Sustaita Appointed Regional Attorney  of EEOC's Houston District Office

HOUSTON - Rudy L. Sustaita, a 26-year attorney with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), has been appointed Regional Attorney of the agency's Houston District Office, which also covers Louisiana, the agency announced today.

A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Sustaita began his career at the EEOC in 1990 as a trial attorney in the agency's Houston office . Mr. Sustaita has worked in the Houston office since that time developing and litigating cases involving all of the statutes enforced by the EEOC.  This includes litigation on significant systemic cases.  From 2007 to 2011, Sustaita also served as an Acting Supervisory Trial Attorney in Houston, where he supervised a team of attorneys in New Orleans.

"The Houston Legal Unit, which includes the trial lawyers in the New Orleans field office, has a team of attorneys who are very skilled and experienced, and Rudy is well-poised to lead its litigation program," said EEOC Deputy General Counsel James Lee.

Sustaita said, "I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve as a Regional Attorney for the EEOC. My entire career has been in the Houston district office litigating on behalf of victims of discrimination. So I am especially proud to now be leading our team of lawyers to enforce our country's anti-discrimination laws."

EEOC enforces federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. The Houston District Office of the EEOC oversees Eastern Texas and Louisiana. Further information about EEOC is available on its web site at www.eeoc.gov.
