Memphis District Office Hosting Open House
MEMPHIS - The Memphis District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) invites the public to attend an open house on July 14 to celebrate the civil rights agency's 50th anniversary.
WHEN: July 14, 2015 from 3:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m.
WHERE: EEOC Memphis District Office, 1407 Union Ave, St. 900, Memphis, TN
The public will be able to meet and speak with the staff and celebrate the agency's accomplishments. District Director Katharine Kores will speak about the ongoing work of the EEOC and the challenges it faces in the 21st century. The theme for the event is "Celebrating the EEOC's 50th Anniversary for Justice and Equality in the Workplace." Refreshments will be provided. On-street parking is available in the area, and a parking deck is available at the building for a fee.
The EEOC was created by the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which was signed on July 2, 1964, and the agency began operation one year later, on July 2, 1965.
