EEOC TO FOCUS ON EMPLOYER BEST PRACTICES TO ACHIEVE WORK/FAMILY BALANCE AT MEETING WEDNESDAY

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hold its next public Commission Meeting on Wednesday, May 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (Eastern Time), at agency headquarters, 1801 L Street, N.W. (Ninth Floor, Commission Meeting Room).

During the meeting, the Commission will hear from invited expert panelists on the topic of “Achieving Work/Family Balance: Employer Best Practices for Workers with Caregiving Responsibilities.” The meeting agenda includes:

  • Panel – An Overview: Work/Life Balance Programs and Benefits in the Workplace
    Cornelia Gamlem, Society for Human Resource Management, and
    President, GEMS Group Ltd.
  • Panel – Best Practices for Low and Middle Income Workers
    Lisa Dodson, Professor, Boston College
    Donna Klein, President, Corporate Voices for Working Families
    Carol Joyner, National Board Member, Labor Project for Working Families
  • Panel – Best Practices for High Income Workers
    Horacio Rozanski, Vice President and Chief Personnel Officer, Booz Allen Hamilton, and member of the Hidden Brain Drain Task Force
    Dr. Anika Warren, Research Director, Catalyst, Inc.

Additionally, the EEOC’s Office of Legal Counsel will present enforcement guidance to the Commission. The EEOC enforces federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. Additional information about the EEOC is available on its web site at www.eeoc.gov.
